Paren-A Hidden Hamlet

Booked  two WBFDC cottages online ( cost Rs1200 per cottage + tax). Booked Kanchankanya Exp for Up Journey  and Padatik Exp for Dn Journey.

14/11/2013

  Had to get down in NJP as the train was diverted. Booked a car to drop us at New Mal Jn ( Rs1000/-). At New Mal Jn our booked car was waiting for us. It took 2 hrs to reach Paren. Car Cost( Rs 1500/-).
The road condition is very bad.
  After reaching there we unpacked our luggage. Took lunch chicken meal. After Lunch went to visit the nearby village.

    At night took Roti and Egg Curry.

      In the morning took Breakfast with ALoo Paratha. Then went to visit Dhouley View Point which 3 km  walking distance through forest from the cottages.
      From Douley we could see Jaldhaka River and its surrounding.

      In Lunch took EGG MEAL.

     After lunch took rest and then took local photographs. Moon Rise was great to see from this place

        In dinner we took chicken curry with roti

        Look Lunch with Egg Curry and rice.  Total Meals was Rs 2074 for 3 Persons.

    After Lunch we packed our luggage and got in the car to drop us in NJP.
On the way visited Jhalong River Camp.

Our train started at 9 pm Sharp

DIAMOND HARBOUR


1/9/13

Sunday morning went to Esplanade to catch Govt bus to Diamond Harbour. Took 9 am kakdeep bus to Diamond Harbour. Bus fare rs 80/- for 3 person


Reach Diamond Harbour at around 11 am. Got down at old jetty ghat stop. From there went to Sagarika Hotel. Booked a A/C double bed room for RS 1600/- + tax. It was front facing room. From the room can see the river.

At around 12.30 took our  lunch with rice, dal, aloo bhaja, fish, chicken. 

Then around 4 pm went out to see the river from new jetty ghat. After visiing came back to hotel and sat on the banks of the river.

At around 7.30 pm took our dinner at Moms Kitchen, Benfish. Took roti and chicken kasa.

In the morning took our complimentary breakfast and then came back to kolkata by A/C bus run by transport corporation.
B us fare RS 65/- each.

TINCHULEY- A HIDDEN HEAVEN

We went their by Testa Torsa Express from sealdah at 13.30 hrs. Reach NJP at 2.40 am. Took a private car( Rs 2700/-      ) to reach tinchuley at  8.30 am      .Returned via Kanchankanya Express.
The word Tinchuley stands for three chullas (chulla means oven), and this is represented by three prominent hill tops that resembels the three chullas. It is an upcoming tourist destination of the region. Tinchuley is a remote hamlet located close to Darjeeling which can be reached through a drive of 32 kilometers. It is at a distance of 80 kilometers from Siliguri, 35 kilometers from Kalimpong and 88 kilometers from Gangtok. The inhabitants of this quiet settlement took an initiative for establishing their locality as a model organic village. With the help of organizations such as the WWF, the village has developed Village Home Stays. The villagers also showed keen interest in modern farming and with the help of WWF they developed floriculture, vermiculture, organic projects.
It provides stunning Himalayan views with the Majestic Kanchanjunga towering over the entire region. The places specializes in Village Tourism and one can take village walks, nature hikes and tea garden visits during their stay here. The untouched natural forest, is a birdwatchers paradise and sunrise views from specific points in this region are greatly talked about by all.

After reaching there took a village walk to see different families. At 1 pm took lunch provided by gurung's family.
In the evening clouds surrounded us from every where. It was very cold in the afternoon.
At 8.30 pm took our dinner.

In the morning could see the himalayan range form our guest house.Went for sightseeing to tea garden, orange garden,lamahata( a new destnination), lover meet point and tribeni. The trip costed Rs 1800/-.
In the afternoon again clouds surrounded us and the atmosphere was beautiful to enjoy.

Could not see the sunrise fully. In morning visited the tinchuley view point to see the valley and surrounding view.
After lunch took a car( Rs 2500/-) to reach NJP to catch the train.

14/5/13

Reach Sealdah.

NB: Ask Mr Gurung for pick up from NJP station.
